PPM B1 is a pluggable socketed processor module (PSPM) for use with the CubeSat-compatible Development Board (DB). By adding a PSPM B to a DB, you create a CubeSat-compatible C&DH module built around Silicon Lab's 8-bit C8051F120 low-power 8-bit microcontroller (MCU). PSPM B has an C8051F120 in a 100-pin ZIF socket with 128KB internal Flash memory and 8848B internal RAM, and runs as high as 100MHz. PSPM B also has an on-board, external, 128KB static RAM for use as XRAM.

PSPM B is part of CubeSat Kit development hardware, and plugs into a Development Board (DB). PSPM B is used to create and debug C8051 software and/or hardware for your CubeSat Kit. By having a socketed processor (PSPM) instead of soldered-on processor (PPM), if you make a mistake while developing (e.g., by accidentally connecting two digital outputs together), a simple processor replacement ($10 or less) suffices to get you going again. PSPM B is electrically identical to PPM B1; your software will run identically on PSPM B in a development environment, and on PPM B1 in a flight environment.

Prospective customers must purchase an entire C8051-based CubeSat Kit first, before purchasing additional PSPM Bs "a la carte."
PSPM B is available only to customers who have already purchased a CubeSat Kit /C8051; proof of a prior CubeSat Kit /C8051 purchase is required. That's because the supplemental information (e.g., schematics) and software required to use PSPM B are only included in the purchase of a full CubeSat Kit.
