In 2015 Pumpkin was approached by the artist Tavares Strachan to collaborate on a project called ENOCH to commemorate an African-American USAF major who perished during astronaut training in 1967. It was a fun project — complicated, strangely, by the fact that it did not originally have a transponder or similar radio associated with it — that culminated in a successful launch in 2018. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) pays tribute to Maj. Lawrence, to the artist and to the project as a whole with a comprehensive chronicling of the project, including a nice video.
